Muay Thai Near Haines City, FL — Classes for All Levels
By Gracie Barra Davenport · July 2026
If you live in Haines City and you want a real Muay Thai program — pads, clinch, conditioning, coached rounds — Gracie Barra Davenport is about a 15-minute drive up US-17/92 and US-27. We run Muay Thai six days a week for adults and kids, with a structured class format that scales from total beginner to fight-team level.
Why Haines City Trainees Drive to Davenport
Haines City has cardio kickboxing classes. It doesn't have a structured Muay Thai program with technical instruction, clinch work, and coached pad rounds. The short drive over to Gracie Barra Davenport gets you the actual sport — taught the way it's taught in Thailand and at serious gyms anywhere — instead of a watered-down workout in front of a mirror.
MMA Head Coach Thiago Belo and our striking coaches run the program. Class is real coaching, not a follow-along video on a screen.
What a Class Looks Like
Every Muay Thai class follows the same arc, which is part of why beginners progress quickly:
- Warm-up: Shadowboxing, footwork drills, and dynamic stretching to prime the joints.
- Technique: One or two techniques taught in detail — jab-cross, teep, roundhouse, knee, elbow, clinch sweep.
- Pad rounds: Partners cycle through holding pads and working the techniques live.
- Conditioning: Bag work or partner drills to finish — this is where Muay Thai earns its reputation.
Beginners get the same techniques as advanced students but with intensity scaled down. Nobody is sparring on day one.
For Beginners Driving in From Haines City
If you've never thrown a real kick in your life, that's the right starting point. Most of our Muay Thai students started with zero striking experience. You'll learn stance, basic punches, the teep (push kick), and the roundhouse — in that order — over your first month. By month two, you'll be holding pads for partners. By month three, you'll start to feel like a striker.
For Experienced Strikers
If you have a boxing, kickboxing, or MMA background and want to deepen your Muay Thai specifically — clinch, elbow work, advanced kick combinations, traditional pad flows — we have an advanced track that runs alongside the general class. Talk to a coach after your first session to find the right placement.
How to Try a Class
The simplest first step is a free school tour. Walk in, see the gym, meet a coach. If you want to get on the bag that day, we'll set you up with an Experience class — a paid intro session credited back to your membership if you join. We're at 6250 Grandview Pkwy, Davenport, FL 33837 — easy access from Haines City via US-27 or US-17/92.
