At Gracie Barra Davenport, we believe competition is one of the most powerful tools for growth. Not because winning is everything — but because putting yourself on the line against an unfamiliar opponent forces you to perform under real pressure.
Every student who has stepped onto a competition mat — regardless of result — comes back to practice sharper, more focused, and more hungry. The mat doesn't lie.

Types of Events We Host
From competition prep to community celebrations, Gracie Barra Davenport brings our team together throughout the year.
Belt Promotions
One of the most meaningful events in BJJ — celebrating the hard work and dedication of our students. Belt promotions happen throughout the year as students achieve new milestones.
Tournaments
We regularly attend and co-host local and regional BJJ tournaments. Competition is a core part of the Gracie Barra journey — sharpening technique, building mental toughness, and testing your skills.
Seminars
Special technique seminars with visiting black belts and subject-matter experts. These intensive sessions offer a deep dive into specific positions, concepts, or martial arts disciplines.
Kids Events
From kids-only tournaments to graduation days and holiday parties, we create special moments for our youngest Gracie Barra members throughout the year.
Community Outreach
As a proud partner of the Florida Army National Guard and a pillar of the Polk County community, we regularly participate in and host outreach events and demonstrations.
GB Network Events
As part of the global Gracie Barra family (900+ schools), our students gain access to GB-wide events, camps, and competitions — connecting with the worldwide BJJ community.
